Race Info

The 7th Annual Magrath Triathlon, Saturday July 17, 2010,  provides a number of participation choices for athletes this year.  It includes an open water swim, a scenic rural bike route, and a run through the community of Magrath. The Magrath Triathlon is intended to be a fun athletic event for all participants, providing an introduction to the sport of triathlon for the first-timer, or a competitive challenge for more advanced athletes.  Participants will include a variety of athletic abilities.  Please be courteous of other racers and our community.

Olympic Distance:  1.5km swim  40km bike 10km run 
Sprint Distance:    750 m swim   26km bike  5km run
Team Participation:    Men   Women  Mixed

Individual age groups:

 16-19 yrs male/female

 20-29 yrs 

 30 - 39 yrs  

 40 – 49 yrs

 50 – 59 yrs 

 60 + yrs


There will be a cap of 300 entrants.  Please register early. Registration will be closed July 8/10.

Cost:  Early Bird Fee (pre-June 27/10 ) | Late Fee (post – June 27/10)

  • $45 | $55 Adult (includes race t-shirt, gift bag, and after race celebrations)
  • $95 | $110 Team (as above for each team participant)

No refunds available. In the event that you are not able to participate, race package will be held for pick-up up to one week following race.  Please see contact information.

Procedure on race day:

Registration:

  • Thursday, July 15, 2010 – Lethbridge pre – registration – 5-8PM - Runners Soul – 2646 South Parkside Drive - across from Henderson Golf Club
  • 5:00pm - 7:00pm Friday, July 16,2010 -  Magrath pre – registration – Magrath Swimming Pool
  • 6:15am – 7:45am – St. Mary Reservoir North boat launch (see map) - registration and transition #1 set-up.  Signs will be posted
  • you will be given your race package when you register, including your race number and 2 race gear bags identified by your race number
  • You will set-up your swim-bike transition area, then drive to transition area #2 (located near the Finish line) and set up your bike-run transition
  • Ample parking is available at LDS Church and High School in Magrath.  Please see the map for an outline of the course and highlights of other important locations on race day (parking, registration, transition zones, etc.)
  • All participants competing in the swim and/or bike will be shuttled to the start area from the finish line with the bus leaving at 8:00 AM sharp.
  • Please note that the registration process, including transition set-up will take a minimum of 50 minutes.

Race start:  Olympic 8:45 am – Sprint 9:15 am.

Timing and Results:

This is a chipped timed race provided by Randy & Sue MorozYou will receive your chip when you pre-register. Carefully follow the instructions to attach your chip and then ensure that you cross the mat at each transition area and the end of the race.  Do not cross a mat before the start of the race when you are setting up your transitions. For your information, timing splits are as follows:

Swim  begins at race start ends at out of water 
Bike   begins at out of water  ends at out of 2nd transition area
Run   begins at end of 2nd transition area  ends at end of race

Prizes:

Prizes will be given to the first place overall finishers, top 2 finishers in each individual age category, and the top finishers in each team category.

Prizes from our local sponsors will be distributed by random draw following the race.  Check race board for results.

Water/Medical:

Water will be available at each transition area and on the 10km run.  Ambulance and EMT service will be available on the route.

Race Waiver:

You will be required to sign a waiver – no waiver, no race :(  All participants under 18 years of age are required to have their parent or legal guardian sign on their behalf.
